Reading Time: 2 minutesWell, Google Plus isn’t even a year old and more than 170 million people have upgraded. The newest release to this social media jewel is all about making it your own. Those brilliant Googlers introduced a more functional and flexible version of G+ two days ago and here are the most notable changes:
Google Plus Customized Navigation
Rather than static icons at the top of your stream, now there’s a dynamic ribbon to the left. It’s now easier for you to adjust preferences and modify routine actions so they are right where you want them. Now you can:
- Drag apps up or down, creating the perfect order to your G+ world
- Hover to reveal short cuts to your favorite actions
- Show and hide any apps by moving them in (or out) of the “More” section
Easier to Find Google Plus Hangouts
A very cool feature of Plus is hangouts. As a business tool, you can collaborate and spontaneously meet online without having to go through the hassle of setting up a meeting on a platform outside of your Google world. The Hangout button is easier to find as its now on your navigation ribbon to the left. There’s even a rotating billboard of popular hangouts, an always-updated list of invitations from your circles, and other tips on how to use this cool tool.
Exploring From Here To There
There’s a new page in Google Plus town called “Explore.” As a data guy, I appreciate that you can find interesting trends across this social network. You can take it with you on the go as well, by downloading the mobile app to your Android or iPhone.

Google plus numbers are very dishonest.
They include all product users and have not given any real numbers that can be verified.
No one I know uses Google + actively at this point.
The new look is good, but a little late I think.
I think their next step will be to automatically add all users to google plus, so people have it
no matter what. But to force people to actually use it will be interesting.

Google+ has already started to affect SEO results for our clients, so we disagree that “no one” uses it actively. As this social media platform matures and integrates more with search, it’s a trend worth following. Our recommendation for businesses is to engage on G+ and begin gathering an audience sooner rather than later.
