If you’re looking for WordPress How To videos, you may just find it at WordPress.tv. Launched back in 2009, it was created as a visual resource for all things WordPress (WP). It’s a handy resource for tutorial footage from WordCamps.
Yes, there are thousands of YouTube videos that can help you with anything WP. Developers and designers have created video content that will take on a WP journey. Many offer a step-by-step guide on subjects like software installation, modifying themes, or manipulating sidebars. But what if they aren’t really experts? Or, what they “teach” is really a download their product? Enter WordPress.tv.
Content Curation by Automattic
The site contains a lot of WordPress How To videos. And the content is curated by Automattic (founded by Matt Mullenweg), the makers of WP. You can watch presentations from past WordCamps. Typically WP.tv videos contain meatier nuggets. They tend to be much longer than YouTube videos. You also don’t have to sit through ads.
Improvements Still Needed
To be fair, some of the videos are loooong. Many can be 20+minutes since they are actual excerpts from WordCamp. They are still adding content. So, there may be subjects that are missing, meaning you might not find exactly what you’re looking for. Or, you have to wade through extraneous video content in order to find the piece you need.
We’ll keep an eye on this channel for WordPress How To videos. We’ll let you know on how things evolve.
