As you probably know, we love WordPress. We love self-hosted (WordPress.org) websites. Yet, there are some circumstances when using WordPress.com to host a business website makes sense.
1. No Fuss, No Muss
If your business is just getting off the ground, you might have the time, patience or money to create a fully customized website. WordPress.com can get you started very quickly. There’s even a WordPress.com Business forum to help users figure stuff out, including a direct line to Happiness Engineers who offer amazing support.
2. When You Don’t Care About SEO Equity
Gasp! Why would someone ever not care about building SEO equity? Kidding aside, there are some old-school businesses out there who just want a simple website that provides the equivalent of an online brochure. If their revenue model works, than WordPress.com provides a low-cost solution that can meet their website needs. And it does it very well.
3. Rich WordPress.com Community
While a WordPress.com website doesn’t amass SEO juice, WordPress.com is building a community that’s kinda like social media. You can create a Gravatar and participate in forums. While searching for content is limited to the WordPress.com ecosystem, you can still find some interesting stuff.
