Reading Time: 2 minutesMeasuring social media as part of an online marketing strategy seems to be topping most 2012 business goal lists. We’ve found several social media tools that help businesses be strategic in attracting and engaging their target market. For those new to online media, it’s a bit like attending a backyard barbecue where the entire world shows up. The number and volume of conversations can be deafening. The trick is to create filters where you can monitor and join in on topics that you care most about. Without appropriate filters, you can get quickly overwhelmed. Or worse, you can waste precious marketing opportunities.
Here is the first of our favorite social media tools that businesses can use to manage their Twitter and other social media efforts:
1. Analysis Without Paralysis
Their tagline says it all “Serious Analytics for Social Business.” You want metrics? This tool delivers with the caveat that the data still needs to be interpreted. Twitalyzer just started charging for the service, offering plans from $5 to $100 a month. Need statistics in order to measure an employee’s effort on Twitter? This nifty tool provides key metrics on engagement and influence you can use to evaluate your social media manager’s performance. SocialOomph is another tool that’s a free (but limited) version that includes some metrics and productivity features that go beyond Twitter. You can schedule Facebook status and wall updates, as well as integrate blog updates. Choose the right tool based upon your business’ need for data analysis. The trick is to gather enough data to make strategic decisions quickly as SoMe numbers have a short shelf life.
