Reading Time: 2 minutesIf you’re a human reading this post, you’re probably wondering why we published a new blog article on one of the biggest national holidays of the year. Well, it’s because search engine bots don’t take holidays or vacations. Google, Bing, and Yahoo crawlers troll the Internet for new content to index. Here are 3 reasons why we keep a regimented content publishing schedule:
1. SEO Rankings
Building and maintaining SEO rankings require frequent publishing of quality content. The upshot here is that search engines look for both relevancy and frequency. If you aren’t consistent with your blog’s publishing schedule, the frequency of these bots coming back to your site occurs more sporadically.
If you’re worried about others maliciously stealing your content… then your best defense is getting indexed first. Search engine bots will come back to your website more frequently when they figure out you publish new stuff regularly.

2. Creating Good Habit
Writing for a blog requires discipline. Once you choose a publishing schedule, stick to it. Three years ago we committed to blogging several times a week publishing on specific days and time. It takes a concerted effort to create good writing habits. Just because it’s Christmas… we decided to publish anyway for reason #3.
3. Building a Human Audience
Hopefully you’re writing for the Web in order to gather a human audience. If you’re doing it right, people who enjoy your content will subscribe and/or return to your website. So reason #3 actually should be reason #1. We published on Christmas as way of honoring our loyal followers.
