Is Small Business Automation Possible?

Automatic for the People

Automation is supposed to save time, but usually, only big businesses have time to do it. The idea that automation tools are difficult and time-consuming to set up can put off many small business owners. But it doesn’t need to be that daunting. So, should a small business spend time on setting up automation? Small businesses are”an anchor of the US economy” so if America’s current economic growth is to continue then getting all you can out of technology will be important.

Auto Revelation

The idea of all technological advances is to reduce the amount of work we need to do and there’s nowhere that can be more useful than in a small business. However, it’s usually larger companies that can afford things like marketing or sales automation. Automation is also usually linked to a move away from a “customer friendly” business towards a more efficient, large company feel. Which, many small business owners don’t want. However, there are many who believe that automation, if used correctly, could lead to a renaissance period for small businesses.

How Can it Help Your Business?

The main way automation can help the small business owner is scalability. Things like email templates (that can be personalized) will help speed up your communication with customers, giving you time to devote to other things. So instead of spending a whole morning writing out 5 emails, you can use a simple template and then add a paragraph of personalized information for each.

Having a CRM, or any other kind of database would also help in a similar way. As would linking your database to your website. So anyone who makes a purchase automatically gets added to your database. These are simple things to set up, but illustrate the small tasks that automation can do for you.

You can also use tools to send out automatic emails. For example, sending out confirmation emails, or delivery notice emails. Things that you don’t “have” to do, but can help keep a customer happy. So you’re building better customer relationships at no extra “work”.

Small Business Automation Hacks

Do you use automation to save you time in your daily routine? If you do, we’d love to hear the automation tricks you use to get back more time to spend on the important stuff?
