Reading Time: 2 minutesTickets to My Favorite Geek Fest
To my fellow Google Geeks… the Google I/O 2014 registration lottery starts on April 15th! If you’ve ever tried to register for this amazing conference, you know how difficult it is to nab a ticket. Tickets sell out in literally less than 10 minutes. Last year, despite my best efforts, I didn’t secure a ticket due to technical issues with their registration process. I’m pleased to see that they are trying out a more democratic process this year.
Google I/O 2014 Lottery-Like Process
If you’re interested in going to I/O, you’ll need to register between April 15-18. Then 6,000 lucky individuals will be randomly selected. Hopefully this will avoid the technical frenzy of registration that has part of this annual conference for the last several years. Originally registration was to happen between April 8-11 but Google pushed it back. Hopefully that means that they are working out the technical kinks in the system.
So wear your lucky Google shirt, and these items ready if want to enter into the Google I/O 2014 lottery:
- Be prepared to spend $900 ($300 for students) via Google Wallet.
- One ticket per person and it’s not transferable.
- Have a Google + Account
- Mark your calendar for June 25-26
- Make travel arrangements for SF (conference is at the Moscone Center)
Let’s Geek Out
At Google I/O 2014 expect to get some swag. In the past I’ve come home with some very cool stuff, including an unlocked Android phone, a first-generation Chromebook, a Chromebox, and a Nexus tablet. According to the official I/O site, there will be sessions on:
- Hands-on Coding
- Explore interactive experiences built with Google Technologies
- Feedback from engineers, developers & marketers
- Keynote speakers introducing the latest innovations
- Some after hour fun and refreshment
Why do you want to go to Google I/O 2014?
