Reading Time: 2 minutesChrome’s Cool Tool
If you love Google Analytics, you’ll most likely love the new Page Analytics extension. In this post I’ll give you a quick recap of this new cool analytics tool you can attach to Chrome and how you’d use it.
First, You Need…
For those new to analytics, there are few things you’ll before you can hit the Page Analytics Extension download button:
- Chrome browser that’s installed on your desktop, laptop or mobile device
- A Google Analytics (GA) account
- Sign into your GA profile
Now you’re ready to download the extension.
What the Page Analytics Extension Does
Filtering data within GA has a wealth of information. Hopefully you’re familiar with features like showing visitor segments (returning vs. new sessions), average time on a page, bounce, etc. The Page Analytics extension conveniently provides GA within your browser. No need to open a new tab and view your website’s data separately. If you’re on a laptop or have a one-screen desktop configuration this can be particularly helpful when working on your website.
Page Analytics extension allows you to quickly:
- See percentage of clicks on links, including hovering over a link to see how many clicks it received
- Compare two preset date ranges
- Select a segment and view data by: pageviews, uniques, average time on page, bounce & exit
The Page Analytics extension has had a relatively slow adoption rate. Considering how many companies utilize analytics, perhaps its due to its recent release. Even so, die-hard data geeks like myself prefer digging into GA’s interface. However, it does provide an interesting diversion right from my browser.
Have you downloaded the new extension. Thumbs up or down?
