As a digital marketing agency, we have access to a lot of Web tools. But we’re extremely picky. We won’t recommend a resource until we’ve kicked the tires and taken them out for a serious test drive. We want to see how these Web tools work in the real world, putting them through the paces before using them on behalf of our clients.
One element that differentiates The Spectrum Group Online from other SEO/SEM experts is that we believe all the data used to optimize a website belongs to you, the client. No black box here. We always suggest that any online systems or Web tools be owned by the client, which allows continuity and access to important data.
Our Favorite Web Tools
So here are a few recommendations we have in our tool belt. We love them so much, we became a reseller also known as an affiliate. Even though we get a little something in return for recommending them, it’s paltry compared to the huge value each of these Web tools provide.
Google Search Console
We consider Search Console as one of the best SEO tools available. Why? First, it’s free. Second, it gives you a direct window into how your website is performing in Google organic search. Curious to see what keywords or search queries are getting you organic traffic? Want to track a page’s performance on SERP (Search Engine Results Page)? Then you’re in luck. Search Console has the data. Right now 90 days of data is available. Rumor has it that Google will increase the number of days. Fingers crossed.

Compared to SEOMoz, Raven Tools packs a lot of punch for their $99/month package. It’s perfect for agencies and professionals who need to manage and measure across multiple channels. Here’s an overview of each component:
The tagline “It’s Your SEO Cockpit” says it all. It’s an SEO aggregator that integrates data from all types of sources. It combines data points collected from SEMRush, SEOmoz and Majestic SEO. You can track keywords, research competitors, and capture backlink data. This nifty tool also lets you keep tabs on website rankings and integrate with Google Analytics. How cool is that?
Social Media Tools
Dubbed the Grand Central Station of Social Media, the SoMe dashboard let’s you customize your view depending upon what most important to your business. It uses real-time data so you can listen in on what your network is saying about different topics or issues. Raven allows you to track 20 networks, and they keep adding new ones as they pop up on the radar. For those that outsource their SoMe, this tool also lets you keep track of all your accounts and limit who has access.
Last but not least is the dashboard that manages online advertising. Need to integrate Google AdWords with Google Analytics? No problem. Want to compare paid advertising with organic efforts? Piece of cake. Yearn for simple reports that provide strategic insights? Eureka!
When we show this tool to our clients, it’s usually love at first sight. We kid you not. Scribe by Copyblogger Media makes optimizing content easy. We suggest focusing on one keyword. Then, write in a style that’s most to how you communicate with clients and prospects. Scribe SEO will then show you how to improve your content so it’s more search engine friendly. Stumped for keywords? Scribe will make suggestions, showing you phrases you might have missed. At Spectrum we appreciate that Scribe can be integrated into WordPress. In our book that’s a perfect match.
