Better UI Means Better Productivity
I spend a lot of time in Google Analytics. So when Google makes improvements that affect my productivity, I like to share the good news. If you’re looking to improve your Google Analytics skills, read on. If not, I cordially invite you to read another one of our posts. While I try not to geek-out, I can’t make any promises when it comes to my favorite Web Analytic tools.
Here are some notable changes to Google Analytics that I’m pleased to see with Version 5:
Customize Your Google Analytics Dashboard
Now you can drag and drop your favorite map, device and bar chart widgets to create your very own cockpit of data. You can select the metrics you care most about, so the important information is on your dashboard. Since I manage multiple websites, I don’t have to hunt around for the key metrics I use when gathering strategic insights.
More User-Friendly Sidebar with Shortcuts
Shortcuts — a powerful Google Anlaytics feature — is now available for real-time reports. Standard reports are one click away as well. If you’re not using keyboard shortcuts, you can view the complete on screen guide (Shift +?).
Improved Recent History & Search
Google made changes to the interior search function. Now it’s easier to search across reports, dashboards, and shortcuts to quickly find what you need.
Google Analytics Exports
I’ve been using Google Docs (now called Drive) for four years or so. As a virtual company, it’s critical that our team members share and access documents wherever they are located. There are significant improvements into downloading GA data into Excel (.xslx) as well as into a Google Doc. By exporting data points, you can manipulate the data and create meaningful reports.
