Copy Site for Replicating Great Work
WP Engine released a new feature called Copy Site. It allows WordPress developers to copy one site to another existing site that’s in production. It’s also a quick way to make a copy onto a new install of WordPress. Why is this so cool?
Quick Ramp Up for WordPress Developers
When you’re creating a new website, you want a place to stage it. Typically this means you need a private place to develop and test new code. It’s an area to see if your new design plays nice with functionality. With Copy Site, you’re not limited to a live site and a copy that’s on a staging server. If you’ve got a great design and don’t want to start from scratch, this function makes it easy to make a replica. You can make as many copies and use it across multiple environments.
Before Making A Copy
One word of warning though. WordPress Developers need to make sure they have standardized naming conventions, a defined workflow for review and approval, as well as other documented processes. Otherwise, copies of copies can be confusing and inefficient when developing and maintaining a website.
