Are You Drowning in Notifications?
Google Search Console (GSC) is one of the most important tools for keeping your website’s SEO on track. Missing any notifications or updates from Search Console can be pretty costly. If you’re anything like us, email notifications often get lost—and automated alerts end up at the bottom of our to-do list (if we even really see them at all). That’s why Google has made Search Console management more efficient by adding a notification center.
Click The Little Bell

With this interface change, you no longer need to leave your reports to see your messages. If you’re a Google Ads customer you will recognize the location and format of the notifications as Google uses the same inbox method on their PPC platform.
Having all your messages in one place makes it a lot easier to work through any problems you’re having on your GSC. You can also go back and look at past notifications, which is particularly useful if you’re new to managing your companies’ GSC account and you want to see what has gone on in the past.
Google Search Console Messages
If you’re getting notifications from your Google Search Console account then you’ll already have an idea of the kind of messages GSC sends. Typical messages can be anything from a notification that a new page has been listed, to a potential error on your website that Google believes needs fixing.
GSC is Google’s way of letting you know how your SEO is going. If Google has a problem with something you’ve done on your website, this is where they will let you know. Ignoring the messages from GSC could eventually lead to your website getting a Google penalty, which potentially could result in your site being removed from the search engine results page.
Breaking them Down
Another improvement in GSC is that the messages are categorized into new, actionable types: .
- Mobile Usability
- Performance
- Coverage
- Breadcrumbs
- Datasets
- Unparsable Structured Data
- Products
This is especially important if you’re in the process of launching a site, or a new section on your existing website, as you can tackle the various problems thematically.
