March 13 Registration Date Announced
Google I/O 2013 is no longer in stealth mode. Despite press leaks, information landing pages pulled (see TechCrunch’s recent article for the drama details), Google made it official that registration opens March 13, 2013 at 7:00 am Pacific Time. Ok, Googlers let’s synchronize our watches because that’s what it will take to successfully purchase Google I/O 2013 tickets. Besides having $900 to spend, you’ll need these three things:
1. Google+ Account
This is a not-so-subtle hint on getting on the Google Plus bandwagon if you haven’t already. Good news is that G+ continues to grow. How it affects search rankings also continues to unfold. Got questions about adding your profile, then check out the Google+ Support Center for frequently asked questions and how to explanations.
2. Google Wallet Account
Also a not-so-subtle plug for Google’s online shopping app, you’ll need a loaded Google Wallet account. Basically it stores your credit and debit cards, loyalty cards, etc. so it makes online purchasing lightening fast. Concerned about security? Then watch this video. It has encrypted protocols and ways to disable the wallet feature in case you lose your phone.
3. A Reliable Alarm Clock
Last year tickets sold out in less than 10 minutes. So, you gotta be ready with your Google accounts and have quick reflexes. Thousands of Google developers and fans are poised at their keyboards. Last year it took me multiple tries as servers were overwhelmed. Hold steady and you may be one of the lucky 5,000 who get a ticket.
Hope to see you at Google I/O 2013!
